Residential Retreat for
Women in Social Impact

9th to 10th March 2025

  • Are you wanting to carve out space to become more intentional around your role in the social impact sector?

  • Would you benefit from some defined time away from it all to think, to discuss ideas and consider fresh perspectives?

  • Do you want to spend time with other like-minded women in person?

If you’re a woman working in an organisation which seeks to make a positive social impact and would value spending time sharing experiences with others in a similar position, join us at Lead To for our two-day retreat in London on Sunday 9th to Monday 10th March this year. The retreat will be held at the incredible Royal Foundation of St Katharine in Limehouse, known as a ‘sanctuary’ within the capital city, and is offered at a significantly reduced cost through our sponsorship!

Who is it for?

This retreat is specifically designed for women who work in the social impact sector, be it in a charity, social enterprise, educational setting, or any organisation which has a mission to make a positive difference in society. The retreat is open to all individuals who identify as women, including trans women and non-binary people who feel comfortable in woman-focused environments.

At Lead To, we work with non-profit leaders, colleagues, and boards across the social sector. We know that these roles can be so busy and resources can be so limited, and that it’s hard to find the time to step back and create space for rest, reflection, connection, and personal growth. As part of our goal to give back to the non-profit sector, we want to give a small group of women this opportunity.

We appreciate that people have different levels of comfort with sharing their experiences and personal goals. It is important to note that the retreat is premised on the idea of making connections and growing together, and will involve group and paired sessions, as well as time for individual reflection. We encourage you to come prepared to engage and listen to others, and to both give and receive.

We suggest that no more than one participant join from a single team/ organisation to allow for more open and diverse discussion.

Who is running the retreat?

Lead To is a governance and leadership delivery, advisory and training practice, supporting boards and executive leaders across the social sector in the UK, and beyond. We help to strengthen the oversight and leadership of organisations working to create positive social impact, in order to lead to better outcomes for the organisations we work with, and those that they serve. The retreat will be facilitated by our Managing Director, Anna Machin. You are more than welcome to contact Anna (anna@leadto.co.uk) if you want to know more or aren't sure it's right for you.

What can you expect?

This retreat is not a traditional training session. Instead, it’s an opportunity to pause, reflect, and gain insight into both your professional and personal growth. We won’t be offering you all the answers, but we will provide time and space to focus on what’s most important to you. The retreat will include:

  • Networking: Build meaningful connections with a small group of other women working across the social impact sector. With a maximum of 16 participants, you’ll have the opportunity for open discussions, and deeper connections.

  • Facilitated group sessions: Reflect on your values, set goals, and identify barriers to the impact you want to create.

  • Self-reflection: There will be time for personal reflection, supported by optional exercises and prompts. The schedule is designed with ample space to rest, recharge, and reflect.

  • Minimal tech distractions: Although the venue offers free Wi-Fi, we encourage you to unplug as much as possible to fully immerse yourself in the retreat experience.

What will you gain from the retreat?

  • Rest and reset: Take time away from the demands of your role and responsibilities to reflect and refresh in a beautiful and restorative setting.

  • Clearer goals: Define your next steps—for your career, your responsibilities within your organisation, and how you want this to look in the context of a balanced day-to-day life.

  • A supportive community: Forge lasting relationships with like-minded women, and create a network for continued support, accountability, and inspiration.

Where is it held?

The retreat will be held at the Royal Foundation of St Katharine, a calm oasis within London. This is a beautiful historic building, a real hidden treasure, and the perfect location to have a wander around the Thames.

What does it cost, and what is included?

The retreat is heavily subsidised by Lead To as part of our goal to give back to the non-profit sector, contribute to building community and enable colleagues from organisations with smaller budgets to participate in development opportunities.

We offer the retreat for a contribution of £75 + VAT per participant (representing an 85% discount against the value of £500 + VAT). This includes:

  • All sessions and materials

  • 1 night of accommodation (single ensuite) and use of the venue during both days

  • All meals from lunch on Sunday to tea and cake on Monday afternoon

We encourage you to come for the full two day retreat if you can, as it can be so powerful taking time away from your routine and developing relationships with the other participants. The retreat starts on Sunday morning and ends on Monday afternoon. However if you can't stay overnight or join for both days, a limited number of day tickets will be available each day at a cost of £25 for Sunday (including the evening meal) and/or £20 for Monday. Travel costs are not included.
